Tamer Taha

Advisor to the Minister for Innovation and digitalisation, Republic of Egypt

Tamer Taha is the Innovation, Digitalization and Entrepreneurship Advisor to Egypt's Minister of International Cooperation.

He has +10 years of professional experience in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship. He was Founder and CEO of Istebdaa' LLC., a Cairo-based Innovation Consulting and Management Company that has developed Yomken.com, the regional CrowdSolving platform. He is also a PhD Fellow at UNU-MERIT and has been elected in 2017 as an Ashoka Fellow.

Tamer has been working with the World Bank as a Research Analyst for three years on two programs: "Innovation and Knowledge-based Economy for Growth and Job Creation"​ and "Governance in Higher Education"​ for which he contributed to a number of regional reports. In addition, Tamer had a number of consulting experiences for international, public and private entities including the EIB, GIZ and UNDP. His main fields of interest are innovation policy, knowledge-based economy, employment, and business analytics, notably in the Arab world.

He holds a Master's degree from Paris-Sorbonne University in International Economics of Development (2010) and a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Computer Applications in Social Sciences from Cairo University (2009), where he participated in various developmental projects. He is currently pursuing his PhD remotely on “Innovation and Employment in the Arab world” at the United Nations University in Maastricht.

Tamer has experience in research using different qualitative and quantitative tools: econometric analysis, social network analysis, and impact evaluation.
